Yesterday was quite the interesting day. I went to Cedar Point amusement park with my brother, my cousin, and my brother's friend. The two hour trip to Sandusky, Ohio was nothing compared to what happened once we got in the park.
My cousin Brandon arrived at my house to pick us up at 20 to 7am, and we loaded all of our stuff in his car. We drove to a nearby Meijer's so we could buy discounted tickets, and after that, we hit the highway, settling in for the drive ahead. The drive went by easily, filled with mindless chatter and lots of laughs. We blasted music from the two mixed CDs I had made the night before, and I proceeded to read Harry Potter (DH) in the car (:
We only had one hold up, which was paying to get onto the Ohio Turnpike. It's a toll road, and when you're driving up to the booth, there's a huge sign that tells you "US CURRENCY COINS ONLY". Easy enough, right? Apparently not for the car in front of us. It was like slow motion, seeing the guy in front of us reach out of the car with two dollar bills in his hand. Everyone in our car was like "NOOOOOOO!" The lady obviously had to tell them they couldn't do that, and then we were just sitting there for twenty minutes while the guy looked for change in his car. That was, until, Brandon, being the nice guy that he is (and the impatient guy he is) got out of our car to go give the guy some quarters so we could get the hell out of there.
After the turnpike fiasco, we were on our way, and started seeing signs for Cedar Point everywhere. We were so freaking excited, it's out of control. We got out of the car and lathered on the sun screen before making our way to the park.
My brother and I have never been to Cedar Point before, something that most people refuse to believe when we tell them (: I went to Disneyworld in Florida three years ago, but I got sick while I was down there, so I didn't ride many roller coasters. My brother had never been on one at all, so we started out small, with the Blue Streak. An easy ride for most, but it took us by surprise at the first drop. We were all screaming and laughing as we came to a stop, and my brother was definitely up for more.
The next ride we went on was The Raptor. (Watch the video for this one, it's insane) This ride was bigger than any I had ever been on, and for my brother, it was only his second rollercoaster ride ever. We waited in line for almost 40 minutes to get on it, and my brother and I thought we were going to pee our pants. Seriously, we were freaking out. Eventually, it was our turn to get on, and we were all freaking out and giggling uncontrollably while we pulled the restraints down over our shoulders and belted ourselves in. The ride took off, and it went up, up, up, up and finally let us go, and we were flying down. We went upside down at numerous points, and I had to shut my eyes at those or else I would totally freak out, but I was screaming and laughing the entire time. It was by far the best ride we rode there.
Next was the MaxAir. This ride reaches speeds of 70mph and swings you back and forth, while spinning in circles. It was fun while we were on it, but afterwards, my brother and I both started to feel a little sick. We took a break from rides and got some water and sat down and waited for Brandon and my brother Danny's friend Dylan to get off The Mantis. This ride is out of control. When you ride it, you're standing up the entire time! It takes you upside down and spins you all around. Needless to say, my brother and I were feeling a bit too queesy to go and ride this one.
After they got off this ride, we went out to the parking lot and grilled some hot dogs while having some pop and chips. It was hot out too, so everyone reapplied the sunscreen and took a seat. We were starving and knew we had a long day ahead of us. We ate quickly and headed back into the park. We wanted to go on a smaller rollercoaster before we hit up a water ride, so we headed over to the Iron Dragon. This ride looked a little laid back, but definitely took us by surprise, we were screaming and laughing the entire ride and it was a lot of fun.
After we got off that ride, we headed over to the back of the park where we got on a ride called Thunder Canyon. This ride is basically a giant raft, so we tried to strip off as much clothes as we could (wearing undershirts and shorts) because we knew we were going to get drenched. And we did. We were soaked by the time we got off of it, and it was fun while it lasted, until we realized how cold we were, and how awkward it felt afterwards, haha.
The next ride we wanted to go on had a wait of almost 2 hours, so we skipped that one and headed to a smaller ride. This one was called the Cedar Creek Mine Ride. This ride surprised us as well, because it was really jerky and basically threw us all over the place in our cars. It was defnitely interesting.
That was our last ride for the day, as we were all wet, tired, and our feet were killing us. We left the park as happy campers and stopped at a gas station on the way home so we could get some snacks for the drive.
All in all, Cedar Point was awesome, and I'm definitely going back. It was really fun and I had a great time, except for the feeling like I was sick part :/
I'd definitely reccommend Cedar Point to anyone who loves rollercoasters and thrill rides, it's out of control.
